'Big 4' Metal Bands Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax Coming Together!

Metalheads.

On April 23rd, the one dark Saturday between the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals, four of the world's top heavy metal bands are scheduled to perform at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. In an exclusive interview, the L.A.-based Goldenvoice company told The Desert Sun it won a bid last weekend to present the only U.S. concert by the lineup of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax. According to Digitaldreamdoor.com, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax are ranked as the four best thrash or speed metal bands, as distinguished from the broader genre of heavy metal bands such as Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. 'The Big 4' have been touring Europe and were widely expected to perform a U.S. tour. Goldenvoice promoter Paul Tollett refused to speculate how many people the metal bands might attract, but Metallica alone drew 50,000 people for its 2003 concert at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum with Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. Concert promoters are set to present a proposal to the Indio City Council at 5 p.m today for permission to stage the concert from 4-11pm. Tickets would be $99 plus fees and go on sale at 10am Friday through Ticketmaster outlets.
