After resent Radio 1 plays from the like’s of Steve Lamaque, Pete Tong, Mary-Anne Hobbs’s Breeze block comes another release from Sound Surgery Records, the artist is Dr Riker, the EP is titled Future Funk Phenomenon…. AI – 666 Dr Riker provides the production skills for this tightly worked EP beginning with the spooky strings and effortlessly moving into rolling beats. ‘666’ is a tough breakbeat workout, with a wicked steppin’ break backed by sci-fi effects and tight percussion then out of nowhere drops the phatest wobbling b-line that is sure to eject anyone from their seats, a certain hit for any club!! AII – Cutz And Pieces Classic cuts and scratches tools for the DJ, finishing with fat looped bass… AAI – Kaos This track is no holds barred acid breakbeat, which combines meaty beats with a simple, yet effective groove’s to move the crowd. This track is the meaning of rough tough tech step breaks and a perfect flip to the A side, definitely a tune for the dancefloors. AAII – Mid Jazz Moments This jazz fusion is a perfect end to this EP, nice production skills and good use of discrete wobbling bass lines and jazz/ which manages to make the breaks sound very interesting, overall this EP is a must for the DJ box!!!
