IDJ-97: a free VST synth and online synth
IDJ-97 is a free 90s rave synthesizer that plays in your web browser, with nothing to download or install: a seven-voice supersaw, pulse waves for hoovers, an acid filter for 303 lines, mono mode with glide, an arpeggiator, a sample layer of orchestra hits, organ and piano stabs, and drive, chorus, delay and reverb, with 18 presets.
Download it free for your DAW as a VST3, AU or CLAP plugin for Windows and Mac, with a standalone app: the same sound and presets as the online version. It is also a Web Audio Module (WAM 2), so web DAWs load it by URL. Take the free sample pack, or sign up free and open it in the InternetDJ studio, a full online DAW, to write a track with it.

Questions
- Is IDJ-97 free? Yes. Play it here or download it for your DAW without an account, and use what you make with it in any music, sold or not. Sign up free to open it in the InternetDJ studio and write a whole track with it.
- Is it a VST? Yes. Download it free as a VST3, AU or CLAP plugin for Windows and Mac, for Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro and other DAWs. The one on this page is the same synth as a Web Audio Module (WAM 2), which plays in the browser with nothing to install.
- Does it work in Pro Tools? Not yet. Pro Tools only loads AAX plugins, and IDJ-97 is VST3, AU and CLAP for now. Every other major DAW loads one of those.
- Can I use the sample pack in my releases? Yes. The eight sounds were synthesized from scratch for IDJ-97, with no recordings in them. Use them in any music you release. The one thing not allowed is selling or giving them away as a sample pack of their own.
- Does it work on a phone? It plays in any modern browser, phones included, though a computer keyboard or a MIDI controller is the best way to play it.
- Why is it called IDJ-97? InternetDJ started in 1997, and the orange and blue were its colors then. The sound is from that decade too: supersaws, hoovers, acid lines and rave stabs.
